Hey Grasshopper Community! I’m currently working on origami and kirigami simulations. I found few examples of grasshopper + kangaroo implementations in the older grasshopper forum. Unfortunately, the old components are not compatible with the latest version of grasshopper and kangaroo. It’ll be awesome if people can use this thread to share any origami and kirigami simulations compatible with the latest version.

I’m a new learner of grasshopper. I fold this origami paper model, and I want to build it in grasshopper. The thing is I have no clue how to build this pattern. Does anyone have some ideas to write the grasshopper script of this pattern?

I am trying to fold a mesh using engine in kangaroo 2.
Meanwhile, I encounter a few problems. Firstly, two mesh faces didn’t weld properly when I am setting up for hinge component. As a result, when I extract the exterior edge it gave me the interior edge as well. I tried to solve this by isolating the unweld mesh, culling out the interior edge and replacing the path.

I want to simulate this folding condition of this origami shape by kangaroo. I used the file from Daniel Piker’s sample.
But the result is incorrect. I am wondering is the issue of my anchor strength or something else.
Furthermore, is there any way to do some simulations in some specific conditions like this？

We are currently working on a 1:1 scale origami structure at the university and so I am of course playing around a bit with Kangaroo.
I created a folding simulation of a rotational pattern and it seems to work fine. However when the pattern is unrolled/unfolded again, it does not yield the original shape any more. I’m using the hinge component of kangaroo for a paper crease. I’m trying to model the spring back effect in paper creases. It is the property of a paper to bounce back to normal state when a force is applied on a hinge. This gives it spring like nature where the rebound force is proportional to the amount of folding. I wanted to know how the strength parameter of the hinge component is related to this.

I used regular yoshimura origami crease Pattern and also defined mountains and valleys in Crane plugin, but the foldation wasn’t the one that I expected as a usual yoshimura shape. what I aimed is to solve the folding process and extract the rigid origami in this area. Hey! The example was great, but I couldn’t simulate the opening and closing (folding) of the kirigami. Am I missing out something?
