Sections are useful when wanting to cut unwanted geometry in a view. When accurately placing the section with the accurate desired boundaries, and the boundaries are touching the wall, in the 3d view a zero-thickness-surface of the wall appears. Which is the desired behavior of accurate sections?
How can someone customize the UI of VA sections (and of other VA objects) for example enlarge the grip points, the arrows etc? We keep searching for hidden grips in all VA objects. Maybe I miss something on this and it’s doable somehow.
WISH: jagged sections is something that’s missing right now. I’ve pointed out this out in the past. I believe it should be a top priority feature. Archicad has the desired functionality - I believe REVIT too. In VA you can create jagged sections, but only in terms of the section line. When activating the section in 3d the geometry is sectioned correctlyBut when the geometry is sectioned in a plan view (hidden mode for example) there are many things missing and I believe it’s not sectioned properly. It creates a section plan, based on a section-line-segment-direction of the jagged section line or an average vector of the jagged section line and also believe that there should exist the hidden-lines in each section change of direction. Check the images below. Also check the first image below, you should be able to select which segments will be involved in a section. For example in the first image, the red-circled line should be ignored and not create a perpendicular section-part on this but instead skipped in the section creation. From this point on, this segment (the ignored one) can be presented differently in floorpan (with a dashdot line or something).
regarding point #2 i have not found a VA specific option for this, so for the size of grip control etc points you can do it through Options/View/Display Modes/ and select a display mode (or change it for all available) to set the control point etc sizes in the available options menus.
This affects all rhino behavior and not only VA objects.
that was useful. I confirm that there is some customizability. Although, I cannot find a way to customize the fill-color also. If you have any idea on how can we do this, please do not hesitate
@fsalla Maybe controlling globally the draw order when editing (selecting) a vaelement, should be a nice way to do this.
i would expect the solid square option to give full red color. At the moment its gets the same behavior with “square with white center” option, so i guess this is a rhino bug.

*edit rhino geometry respects full color grips with solid option selected, thus not rhino bug.
I guess the wall external surface should not be displayed, but I’m not sure if this is feasible. You can just move the section a bit to not be coincident with the wall.
As @ng5_Alex pointed out, the grip points size of VisualARQ objects take the same settings as Rhino objects by Display.
I don’t understand what is missing here. Take into account that when you align a section to a view, the view is oriented perpendicular to the first segment of the section line. The rest of the view is displayed in projection from that first segment perpendicular direction. This doesn’t affect the plan view at all.
Exactly. It should not align the entire section to the first segment. It’s a feature WISH. I understand that it terms of development this is the desired functionality. What I am suggesting here, each segment should align differently but all the segments of the section should be connected. The same that Archicad handles the jagged sections. I’ve made notes above with red. A jagged section should work as a jagged section in plan view also. And respecting each segment projection and section per segment not apllying globally the first segment’s etc.
Yes for now it’s the only way. But you may want to study this, because there are things that are being limited due to this, such as auto section creation among a project. Precision is key. If the desired behavior is not displaying this zero thickness surface, then you might want to study this for future version.
I cannot make it filled red.Ah maybe you mean it gets filled by layer color?
