I have a client who called me who has started experiencing constant crashes on two machines - sometimes without doing anything… He has a hybrid machine with an Nvidia Quadro P620 and an Intel 630. I asked him first to update the video driver - which he did for the Nvidia, but not yet for the Intel - and it is still crashing. I told him to do the Intel driver update as well - but I can’t remember - how do you force Rhino to use the Nvidia?
Otherwise his SystemInfo looks totally normal:

I think to force the Nvidia, the setting is in the NVidia control panel for ‘High performance’. I guess it is global - I do not know if you can target Rhino… But I’d have them do the clean install routine for both-
I’m tempted to tell them to completely disable the Intel processor, but I’m afraid it might mess something up (if you get a black screen, how do you go back?)
just a guess, but half the time i was confronted with this it was because of the Tessellation setting… this seems to be buggy in many drivers (intel especially)
needs to be turned off
Well, in the end, this did get solved - the client reported to me that he had mistakenly plugged his monitor into the graphics port on the motherboard (i.e. only Intel) instead of the port on the Quadro… When he plugged it in in the right place, everything is OK…
