Rhino model to Revit for plans and quantities

Hello Everyone,
I started working on an architectural project led by someone else who couldn’t continue, the model was made completely in rhino because of the complex geometry, but now I need to create construction plans, details, and obtain quantities. I dont have experience drafting in Rhino, and because of the upcoming deadline, my priority is to use Revit’s documentation tools. I think the best way would be to import the model in Revit, but I haven´t been able to do so. What do you think would be the best way to do it?

Hi Santiago,

I changed the category of the post to Rhino.Inside - Revit.

Can you provide additional details of your workflow? Are you subcontractor adding a particular trade?

We have an extensive guide on the components and capabilities of RiR here.

It’s also helpful to post the version of Rhino being used as well as the targeted Revit version.

Thanks for you reply,
I’m working exclusively on architecture, been modelling exclusively on Rhino 7, and trying to import it on Revit 2024 to use its documentation tools. I’ve been using Import CAD to import the 3dm file, it becomes a generic model in Revit and allows me to create sections and floor plans easily, but all the elements are grouped in a single generic model so I can’t assign different materials and patterns to different elements.
I understand that Rhino Inside Revit must be the best option, but I’m afraid I won’t have enough time to learn how to use it. Since my objective is only to produce documentation, there may be another way.

A highbred approach is going to most effective and provide the best looking drawings. Assuming things are highly custom you could quickly draw in the walls and use a door / window openings to the R.O., Bringing in highly detailed components as needed via Rhino.

If you have a particular issue feel free to post details.
