Rhino freezing whole computer

My Rhino model keeps freezing the whole computer after normal use. I have looked at other forums and seen that updating the graphics driver might solve the issue. I updated it manually through the intel website and the issue is still there. I ran a memory check and there were no issues. I use a windows surface book 3 laptop.

here is my rhino system info:

Video memory is well below the “recommended” specs…

ok thank you. i was looking up that i am able to share my 32gb ram memory with the video ram through changing my BIOS settings. I don’t really understand this process much however, do you recommend doing this?

No you can’t change that in some bios setting. That 1 GB is the max it will use. Intel integrated video is just garbage.

That’s a good computer for Web browsing and Email.
It’s not a Rhino workstation.

If you’re serious about Rhino:

Note: I would avoid the M1 Macs for now too.

rip - well that’s my bad lol

is there an option that doesn’t involve buying a new pc? like for example getting an external graphics card/gpu? if anyone has any ideas would be greatly appreciated as I cannot afford a new laptop right now

Not for a laptop, yes for a desktop.
It’s one of the many disadvantages of laptops.
Sorry

I have a surface tablet with iris graphics and it’s not crashing constantly on me when I try some small files with Rhino-not that I got it for rhino. What is the machine? Is Windows up to date? Are you trying to multitask?

it is a surface book 3. windows is up to date and even with everything closed it still crashes. however the file is quite large at 211mb.

by changing the resolution rhino has stopped crashing and runs smoother - not the best fix because it reduces the quality but if anyone is experiences the same this might help you
