Rhino BETA Feature: Markup

OK so just need to wait for the next version to be released. Thanks

Hi @mkarimi,

can I increase the button size of the markup tools? They are too small for my eyes.

Thanks

Michael

There’s no way to do this at the moment but I have a request for it, RH-91690 Link icon size of Markup to chosen toolbar size

Actually in your screenshot they do look small. They should be the same size as the rest of the UI icons.
Are you using default toolbar icons sizes? Or are you using a low DPI screen?

This is what it looks like on my screen relative to default toolbar icon size

My Button Size is extra big at 48.

@Michael_Meyer this is now fixed in the latest WIP

RH-91690 is fixed in Rhino WIP

Is it possible to somehow rename the Markups ?

/Erik

It’s not currently possible but I logged a bug and will make it work
RH-94782 Rename a markup

Thanks.

Another thing that does not really work:

The thumbnails are useless like this … Impossible to see what they represent.

Would it be possible to Ctrl-(mouse wheel)-Zoom the Markup Panel? So that the thumbnails automatically enlarge when using the zoom feature? Then they become useful.

Also, adding the background of the markup to the thumbnail would add to the understanding. The markup is normally dimensions and text which is hard to “understand” in miniature views. 3D objects in colour are more readily understandable.

Thanks

/Erik

Now, the functions implemented by markups and markupsketch seem to be the same. Previously, in other views, the lines drawn using markupsketch could be stretched, but this is no longer possible with markupsketch now.

Markups should have a backgroud, this was a bug that was recently fixed:
RH-94351 Display Direct3D: Markup thumbnail background is white

The fix will be in the next release. Please update and let me know if it’s still an issue

MarkupSketch is just a shorthand for starting Markup and selecting the Sketch tool from the HUD. They are indeed the same.

I allow certain commands during a markup, Stretch isn’t one of them. I can add it. Is that all?

Sure I will … if I can update that is …

Thanks

/Erik

  1. I can edit the curve.
  2. The operation axis can also be seen in other views, which makes it more convenient to edit the curve (such as commands like stretching).

Hello,

(9.0.26104.12305, 2026-04-14)

2026-04-20, bugs.

1// BUG - Double click in the Markup list does not put the selected Markup into Edit Mode.

2 // BUG - Impossible to Print (Serious) when Markup is active. So at the moment completely impossible to export PDF-prints of Markup in the correct scale. Please FIX ASAP. I tried Ctrl-P, _Print, Print. As soon as the Markup Edit is turned off printing works again.

3// WISH - It would be greatful if the filename when printing reflected something like the Filename + Markup name + printing moment (date + time). Now every print has to be post-edited in Explorer.

4// BUG - Line Thickness does not update the Line thickness property of the object. Therefore it does not print correctly.

Thanks

/Erik

2// applies to other things as well. Impossible for example to Save av View while in Markup Edit mode. (This might be intentional. But PRINTING must work.)

More “bugs”:

  • when using the CopyToClipboard in Markup, it should actually copy what is on the screen at the moment, not what is “saved” already. It actually copies what has been saved now. It should not be necessary to save the markup first.
  • when using the Export feature: it should not ask for a folder where it outputs a random useless name. Rather remember what filename the user used the last time when exporting that Markup. Then it is easy to build an auto-updateable document in another application.
  • Please Add “Export as PDF” (in scale). Important that the exact view stays exactly as it is.

/Erik

More bugs:

It is impossible to move the measurement. Normally you can move the “100” by clicking the white point just below the small colourful palette. But in MarkUp it does not seem to work anymore.

The Export (Image) function should behave like “Print”. It should respect Layers that have “No Print” etc. It does not, which is dysfunctional.

Maybe it would be helpful to keep Print and Export as one function. Will be less complicated for you. Just Print as JPG/PNG. Then all these functions/properties will be kept together.

This is not a bug, double clicking the markup will put you in “View Markup” mode. If you’d like to edit the markup, you need to click the edit button.

The line thickness property of the object indeed has the thickness, but it’s in pixel units, so it may not match your print output. However it looks reasonable in my test:
