Rhino 8 UI layer panel issues

Hi, some issues with the layer panel.

  1. Can we please get right clicking back in blank areas of the column header like in previous Rhino versions?

  2. About 3/4 of the time I click on a layer’s linetype, I get a momentary disco flash of some floating panel outside the Rhino window, up and to the left. My screen recording picked up some of it, but it happens more often than I think this gif shows. See upper left corner of frame:

  1. Dragging a layer down into a blank area of the panel fails to sort it to end or detach from its parent into the root level. Should behave like R7 instead.

Cool. Any ideas about #1 and #2?

Hey folks, any idea about #3? Thanks.

Hey @anon ,

Can you check the latest release of Rhino, I believe #.1 has been resolved, and I cannot repeat #.2 myself, so it’s possible that has also been fixed.

– cs

In my case, yes, #1 is fixed.

#2, no, no change. Linetype window still flashes on the left side of my screen every time.

Dragging layers crashed Rhino 8.8 with an empty model. I guess I was dragging and selecting too fast for R8. Sad rhino crash report submitted.

No good.

Hi @anon,

I looked at your crash dump information - thank you for submitting and my apologies for the inconvenience.

While I was unable to determine the cause of the crash, I’ve added some additional check in around the code where I suspect some went sideways. This addition will be in this week’s Rhino 8.8 SR release candidate.

Thanks again,

– dale

No need to apologize at all, I just want to rebuild my trust in Rhino. I’ll give the next SRC a shot.
