Rhino 7 slow and not responding

One other option to consider; since you are correctly not using that old Intel GPU, is to Disable it in Windows Device Manager > Display adapters.

I have done this myself on my own Desktop computer.

I presume you mean the driver for the Intel GPU ? If yes then I disabled it like John Brock suggested… Made no differance in speed selection. Sorry…

Same here.
Even with simple lines.

Hello, same here, slow selections between objects and copy/paste on multiple lines very slow.
Also the _Options command takes few seconds. The slow behaviour is before fire the command, moving the object is quite smooth.

Now I will revert to a previous version of Rhino7. Rhino 5 on the same file is A LOT, I mean A LOT, more responsive and as expected.

I’m posting the systeminfo:

EDIT: further troubleshooting reveal that the major slowdowns are expeceted when selecting multiple lines, a not so complex 2d drawing. Using the boxedit to edit the position of the selected lines the program become unresponsive and hang indefinitely (after 20 seconds I shut down the process).
I repeat, same file in Rhino 5 no problem at all.
Thank you.

People Hi,
Massive slowdown for me too. On different files. On the perspective view, as I manipulate, It slow down after few minutes of working and then totally freeze. Working on shaded view and with blocks. It turn out that rhino 7 drain all the GPU performance (NVDIA GeForce GTX1060).
I saved my files to R6 and open it under R6, no trouble at all. Very small used of GPU (about 5%).

Hi Rod - thanks - can you make this happen with all default display modes?
Can you please run SystemInfo in V7 and copy/paste the results here?

Wireframe mode appear to be as slow as shaded and when I turn to wireframe, some part stay shaded, as well as when I hide some part, sometime they decide not to.
Rod

Has there been any resolution to this? I’ve noticed what seems to be a similar issue, there’s perhaps a 1s+ lag when selecting lines on a 2D drawing, which is painful to work with.

I’m finding it almost unusable on a tiny file!

Same here. Not workable. I think after the last update.

Hi @ar00302
You are replying to a very old thread, but anyways… Run the SystemInfo Command in Rhino and post the result here. Thay’s the best way of getting the troubleshooting started :grinning:

Hi @lior_marom
What is that is slow? Loading Rhino, screen navigation, interface feedback, specific commands or…?
Anyways, the first thing to do, is to update your graphics card driver. I know it’s not too old, but with Windows updates coming all the time, it’s a good idea to start there. If that doesn’t help, I would try to disable Enscape in the pluginmanager and restart Rhino. If that helps, you need to conctact the Enscape people

Hi @Elaina_Wilson
First thing to do is to update your driver to the latest version and see if that helps. If not, please post a screenshot of your OpenGL settings (Options>View>OpenGL). It might also be worth to take a look at this. I think it’s an Nvidia card, but it might still be relevant.
HTH, Jakob

Hi Jakob, Thanks for that, I updates the driver and it seemed to be working for a bit but has now started to freeze again after only using it for a few minutes, (doesn’t;t come up with not responding error just freezes) I have attached the GL settings below, any help would be great

Hi @Elaina_Wilson
Nothing there looks strange… Make sure that you’re on the latest service release (both Rhino and Win11) - other than that, hopefully one of the bigger brains will chime in (@pascal?)
-Jakob

Try setting Windows 11 to use only the AMD Radeon RX 6600M for graphics in Rhino.

In Windows 11 (not Rhino):

Right click on the taskbar at the bottom of the screen, and then left click on “Taskbar settings”. The Settings panel should open.
or
Click on the Windows icon on the taskbar and select “Settings”. The Settings panel should open.

In the Settings panel search window type “Graphics”. Select “Graphics settings”.

Under “Custom options for apps” select Rhino and click on “Options”.
Chose “High performance” for only the AMD Radeon RX 6600M.
Save

Close the Settings panel.

I got also a slow Rhino 7. It freezes and gives the message does not respond and after a few moment it starts again.

Here is my

That system info looks OK. You may want to remove any external adapter and try with one monitor plugged straight into the desktop.

Another thing to look for would be an updated video driver, or try an older one.
