Questioning Toolbar Behavior for new Rhino 8

I am having an issue with the new Rhino 8 toolbars. It maybe I am missing something, but there are two points I am unable to solve. Below annotated screenshot points to the two problems.
A: every time I open a file, the bottom snap toolbar looks like the attached. My fix is to unlock the toolbars (now called containers). Left click and drag the selection filter window and my snap toolbar is corrected. I close the selection filter and save. When I open up, repeat, same issue.
B: In my workflow, I typically use both the layers toolbar and the materials toolbar together, referencing from one to the other. I used to dock the layer tool bar below the materials. The material toolbar as is currently the case has several tabs to the right. The layer toolbar below however was stand-alone (no tabs).
I cannot figure out how to achieve this configuration, plus every time I add a tab to the materials toolbar it disappears when I open the file.
Any help to sort this out will be appreciated.

Thank you, Rob.

One other point regarding the toolbars, although not sure it is related is when I was dragging the toolbars to correct the overlap, I inadvertantly dragged it off the Rhino window and the Rhino file froze. This happened twice. I had to use task manager to close the file and reopen (only fix that worked).

Hi Rob - run Reset, check the top box, close and reopen Rhino - does that look like you want.
Now drag the layer tab out and float it
Now dock that entire container on the bottom where your question mark is.
In the Window menu > Window Layouts > ‘Save window layout’. Give it a reasonable name.
Now you can get that saved layout back as needed,

Does that do anything you like?

Hi Pascal, solved, thank you. Your solution was spot on.
It may not be related, but now my Vray toolbar has gone missing, and I cannot locate it under the Vray tab or the tool menu or the render menu?
Do you have a suggestion on where I can locate it?
Thank you.

Solved the Vray window. Just took some looking around.
Thank you very much Pascal for your help with this. Great to have the new Rhino 8

What about A?

I cannot repeat that here, do you have the same issue? @robshaz does that still happen on your end?

Example report:

I interpret the image from OP as the Osnap/Filter container being docked to the bottom, and after opening the height has changed.

In your case you dragged out the Osnaps and docked the Osnaps and Filter separately, after which Rhino adds the Filters back as tab to the Osnaps. that bug is logged in the thread you linked.

Hi Gijs, no, problem solved after the reset. Once reset I locked all tools. Now my files open with my chosen layout and all issues gone. No more overlapping tool bars.
The key seems to have been naming the layout using a personalized name.

In Rhino 7 I had the layers and also the Properties boxes permanently open and docked side by side on the right of the screen.
I can’t replicate this (can’t dock one container to the side of the other container on the left)
What is the fix?

Hi -

You need to make sure to drag the container (and not the panel), and then drop that on a blue square that appears when you get to a position where you can dock.

Perfect, thankyou
