I have lost the lightbulb in the layers panel.
How do i retrieve it please

Thankyou sir

ok, i would like to just show one of my elements i have made up in colour with the rest of the structure shaded

You can select the way individual objects appear with SetObjectDisplayMode

Select the object then start typing SetObjectDisplayMode (it will autocomplete)

i have made up a default template for layers but when i go to layout its not there?

You may want to have a look at layer states. This will save which layers are on, off, locked, unlocked, etc.
Set up layers the way you want then save a layer state. Layer State manager is on the layer flyout.

how can i send just a rendered perspective to layouts as one whole picture for the cover pic. When i send it to layout it does not look the same?

You can save what you see with ViewCaptureToFile. It will save as jpg, png, tiff or bmp. Is this what you need?

I think so.Thankyou.

How do i put different detailed drawings onto the one layout page please

Have you looked at any of the Rhino tutorials? For example:
Intro to Layouts in Rhino for Mac
https://vimeo.com/178427299

Remember that Layout Details have their own layers window, but these layers are a subset of the model layers, i.e. making a layer not visible in the model will also render it not visible in the Layout details, even though it may show as visible in the layer table belonging to the detail.

Yes, ill take another look now. Thanks

thanks man

i have checked the tutorials and cant find one on how to put a rendered perspective into layouts after saving it with viewcapture to file?

when i go to my model layer in layout to turn dimensions off in perspective view the dimensions are already turned off but still show regardless?

“i have checked the tutorials and cant find one on how to put a rendered perspective into layouts after saving it with viewcapture to file?”

Model something. Start a new layout with 4 details. Double click into model space in one of the details and select rendered from the viewport properties. This viewport (detail) will display in rendered mode. The display properties of the details are independent from each other.

If you want to display a bitmap image like a jpg you can use the “picture” command to place the image in your model. Then you can try different display modes for the viewport to find the one that best suits your needs-it does not have to be rendered to display the image.

Better post the file and try to explain what you want it to look like.

Hi Abraham, how do i post the file please?
