Mesh Wire Visibility in Element

Hi Guys,

When viewing an element object in elevation, the mesh object will show ALL the wires. If you explode teh same block out of the element, it displays as intended, with only the silhouette of the object displaying.

This is a bit of a tripping hazard. Any advice here?

On the left is the element, on the right is the very same block in the element.

Hi @Clayton_Muhleman can you share that file? We will take a look.

You bet, @fsalla. Here’s a file with the element in question.

Thanks!

Thanks @Clayton_Muhleman ! I’ve reported this issue to the development team. I’ll get back to you when they figure out what’s happening.

Hi Clayton, I’ve realized that if you create the block used by the Element style with NURBS instead of meshes, you get a better result:

In any case, we will try to fix the issue with the meshes.

Thanks, Francesc! Let me know if you guys find a fix.

Being able to use meshes would be ideal. It’s easier to find good mesh geometry online and they don’t slow the model down as much when used is large numbers. Thanks again!

Hi Clayton, good news! the developers could fix this already. Find below a link to download VisualARQ 2.13.2 version if you want to test it out.

http://visualarq.s3.amazonaws.com/download/visualarq-2.13.2.17443-rhino7-setup-snapshot.msi

Tested it out and it works perfectly. Thanks to you and the dev team for that super fast fix, Francesc!

Just so you understand the workflow you’ve enabled, we can now property display VA Elements along with regular mesh objects in interior elevations, so our plumbing fixtures and light switches can be coordinated between plans and elevations without any double handling.

Hi @Clayton_Muhleman we have recently released the official update VisualARQ 2.13.2 that fixes that error with the meshes displayed in Hidden mode: VisualARQ 2 - Version 2.13.2 released

@fsalla Thanks for the follow up!

Hi
I have just downloded the visual arq so assume its the latest version and can see all the mesh wires in the projection on plan view whilst on the hidden view - any advice please?

Hi @Yasaman_Arbabifard,

Please, could you send me that file? I’ll check it. You can post it here or send it visualarq@asuni.com.

unfortunately cant send the file and also its a worksession so you’d need few models.
to correct myself these lines are from the polysurface and doesnt seem like i can get rid of them…
however when my plan cut line goes through a mesh the cut pattern override doesnt work on the mesh… is that a bug or only works for closed polysurfaces?

Hi @Yasaman_Arbabifard,

If it is a polysurface I think it make sense you get all edges in the final plan view (how could we know which edges should be displayed and which ones shouldn’t?). Why do you need to create this object as a polysurface? Maybe you can create it as a NURBS surface.

Is it an open or a closed mesh? If it is a closed mesh it should work fine.

fair point on the polysurface, however the mesh is still not filled in properly ? some is filled and some isnt…

also can you differentiate and have different color hatches for different meshes?

Hi @Yasaman_Arbabifard,

We will need this mesh to figure it out. You don’t need to send us the whole file, just the mesh.

Yes, you can define the pattern color here:
