Perhaps the same as in this thread: Why unable to save this metallic looking file in V8?
Make sure your device has enough free space (probably twice your current file size at least).
I have a client who is reporting the same thing. A couple of workstations in the company refuse to save to a network drive (NAS), same error message - temp file cannot be overwritten. Doesn’t happen all the time.
This is an old bug that keeps popping up, when I worked at the university and we were saving to a drive on the network, I got this often, starting with Rhino 6 and continuing through Rhino 7. Nothing to do with available disk space.
Hi Mitch -
Have they tried toggling the state of this advanced setting?
Rhino.Options.FileSettings.WriteLocalTempFileWhenSaving
Does that mean this is completely random or that it only happens (or not) in specific circumstances?

Which state is supposed to work better?
Don’t have that info yet. I asked them to check if this might have to do with larger file sizes…
If it were possible to answer that question, there wouldn’t be a setting to be able to change this. Apparently, on some systems, this needs to be on (which is the default), but it causes issues on networks where system admins somehow block writing the temp file locally.

All my files reside on a local drive inside the PC. No NAS or network servers.
