Project Context:
Whole building architectural project, 5 story 40k sf mixed use residential building. Worksession is 15 files, one file is a “CD set” of Layout sheets with detail views (set to named views set by clipping planes) and annotations.
Problem:
The Worksession cannot maintain visibility settings across model space, layout space and detail views. When opening the .rws file or after updating a linked .3dm file, visibility settings clear themselves and need to be manually reset. It made modeling the building a little annoying but has made the architectural documentation process a nightmare.
Process:
-ModelOn/LayoutOn/DetailOn/GlobalOn are set in every linked file before save and close.
-Initially opening the .rws file; individual linked file ModelOn/LayoutOn/DetailOn settings clear themselves but generally the GlobalOn settings are retained.
-After resetting ModelOn/LayoutOn/DetailOn/GlobalOn settings based on the intent of the active Worksession file create a Layer State to try to preserve settings.
-Update a linked file in the Worksession (by either the manager window or by right click layer>work ref>update) causes ModelOn/LayoutOn/DetailOn settings of that file to clear themselves in the .rws file model space, layout space and in every detail view.
-Restore a layer state, just reshuffles the On/Off settings, doesn’t restore anything but some GlobalOn.
-To correct it after any update, you need to reset LayoutOn/DetailOn setting in every detail on every layout. SUCKS! This would only be an challenge if the default setting was Off but when every layer in every file defaults to On, this becomes a professionally unusable tool.
