Hello, I’ve just started to apply materials to some furniture using Vray but for each object I need to scale down the material so that it looks right. Does anybody know if there is a “file set up” of sorts for Vray so that the materials should be the correct size for the objects. I feel like its incorrect to keep having to change the size of the diffuse and bump bitmaps.
Usually we don’t scale the materials and textures. We use UV mapping from the rhino interface. Each object when selected has properties for mapping next to the material properties in the panel. There you set type of mapping eg Box mapping and set a scale accordingly. You can also match the mapping of another object that you setup.
yes, like @fin mentions, size is controlled by UV mapping, unless you use V-Ray’s Tri-planar mapping
