V8 Popup toolbar doesn't keep its size

The popup toolbar has a different size (one extra column) when it pops-up than when its floating.
This pushes all the icons out of sync if they are expected in a specific location during use.

hi @ThomasAn can you send me your _SystemInfo? thanks

Same problem here. Seems like resizing of the Popup does not work like in R7 anymore. It´s frustrating for the workflow.

Hmm, I cannot reproduce that here in an older version, nor in the latest in house.
But there is this open issue regarding the size of popup toolbars:
RH-78836 PopUp sizing

Its the v8 version on the McNeel site. Downloaded yestedday.

It could be a Windows 10 only bug, but have no Win 10 box to test here right now.

If it was a windows thing, then v7 would also struggle. (then you’d also have to ask, what did v8 forget about windows that v7 knows ? )

@ThomasAn
V8 was largely rewritten to be cross-platform compatible between Windows and Mac.
IMHO, there was inadequate WIP/Beta testing for all this new code, so we’re playing catchup as fast as we can.

If you’re more comfortable with V7 in it’s mature state (36 rounds of fixes), then maybe use it until the V8 fixes are farther along.

Be well

My thoughts too. V7 seems fine for now.
On further inspection, this part is completely broken. It is not just one column, it’s all of the columns, the popup seems to have a fixed size of it’s own.

Yup. That’s on the to-be-fixed-soon pile too.
Actually, this has been reported multiple times and is on the developer’s “Open” list.

Bringing this one back up from the bottom of the deck.

I’ve been editing my pop-up toolbar, and all has been fine (also exporting out to save it just in case.) Updated to the 11/6 release yesterday, and all was working fine all the way up to just now. The pinned version is the correct one. Tried multiple things (making bigger, making smaller, size to fit content, even lock docked containers on and off cuz you never know :person_shrugging: )

Sys info and image below.

Thanks,

Alan

@Alan_Farkas that’s odd, do I see correctly that the icons become larger when popped up?

Prob just because one is a screenshot within the screenshot… :slight_smile:

@Alan_Farkas could you run _Reset and click the “save settings for support” button and pm me the resulting zip? Thanks!

@Alan_Farkas
Thanks for sending the file.
I could reproduce the issue here.
What’s interesting is that if I make a new RUI fille, and copy the buttons to a new toolbar, I am able to make the size stick. I will send that in pm
