Um, lost a panel and can't find it?

I have several panels open for individual thing I use continuously, Properties, layers, materials, and one that showed the computer file tree where I accessed my repository of block, images, etc. I somehow closed it and now I can’t find it. I thought it was called Libraries, but the only library panel I find is the Material Library. Where is it? Doh!

Do you mean the panel called File Explorer?

Thanks. I just checked that panel, but that doesn’t seem to be it either. In whatever I had, I got to see my drives, and all the folders in them.

Hi @CalypsoArt

Is this on V8 or V7 mac or windows? In V7 windows you can click on the arrow in the libraries tab that will take you to your desktop then you can navigate to your drives. It’s not intuitive where they arrows go but it works once you realize. The other arrow takes you back to where you were.

The file manager panel in R8 sounds like that, but I think you need to customise the options to get your drives to show. Do it in options here:

Note that you can’t set ‘This PC’ as a folder - you have to start at drive level.

Then in the panel the left and right arrows take you through the top level options.

I’m on Win RH 8. Yes! What you show is what I’m looking for. However, I can find no “Libraries” panel to start from? Where are Libraries in RH 8?

I’ve found the File toolbar but no File Manager. File does not appear to be it. The Libraries image that 3dsynergy posted is what I’m looking for.

Sorry, I meant File Explorer as previously suggested. As I say, in R8 it looks like you have to configure the drives as top level items in Options (whatever tool McNeel now use in R8 to create this panel doesn’t allow you to reference ‘This PC’ as an option, at least in Win 11).

From memory you can also right (?) click on the body of the panel to change the layout and sort order, similar to file explorer.

What is the panel called? How do i open it?

Hi @CalypsoArt

Sorry I don’t have V8 so I don’t know if the panels are in the same location or what they are called. In V7 you click on the panels tab and check mark the libraries tab then the libraries tab will appear either docked or floating. See image:

One of my thoughts is that maybe you closed the tab you’re looking for and or closed it on a second monitor? Don’t know if that would matter.

Yep. Different in RH 8. There is no “Libraries” panel to check. I’m pretty certain I had it and closed it by mistake, but no idea how I originally had it displayed other than possibly a RUI import from RH 7?

It is the File Explorer panel you want in Rhino 8, just as @jeremy5 has been telling you all the time.

edit: there is also Render Libraries, but that is a rewrite of the old Libraries.

Oops. I was mixing up the File TOOLBAR with the File Explorer PANEL. Doh!
