Hi All. When I create a “SunStudy” in Rhino 7.0 WIP and export as PNG single frames, I get shadow-anormalies in frame 5,11,16,17 in a standard animation setup from kl. 10:00 to 16:00 (20 min/passes). I have downsampled 18 singleframes from 1280x720 to 320x180 px and zipped them with a html-file.
SunStudy_320x180.zip (957.8 KB)
I made a second test with more frames: (15min/passes) in the same period of time: kl. 10:00 to 16:00.
I include a Zip-file with the original renderings (1280 x 720), a screenshot and a html-file for preview.
I created a larger animation with 25 frames (downsampled from 1280x720 to 640x360).
In this animation the following 9 frames are abnormal: Frame #2,4,5,10,15,16,22,23,24

As a reference: Here is a Zip-file with the same SunStudy in Rhino 6.

Hi Tim - you are referring to the hard and soft shadows, correct? Can you post or send that Rhino file to tech@mcneel.com, with a link back to this topic?
-Pascal
Hi Pascal.
I’m not allowed to share the 3D-file, but I have included a screenshot of my selected geolocation (Copenhagen, Denmark) and the selected time & date.
I also found a second error beside the alternating hard and soft shadows:
When asking for renderings for increments of 10 min AFTER testing 15 min, you only get 25 renderings in the period kl. 10:00-16:00, where you would expect to get 37. 15min increments in 6 hours=25 (10min increments in 6 hours= 37).
I uploaded the result from Rhino 6 SR 31, where it work as you would expect.
Tim
P.S. Maybe this has been solved in the final version. I have only tested WIP.
Hei Tim -
I was able to reproduce that issue here and created RH-61566 for a developer to take a look.
Thanks,

Hi Wim and Co
Thanks for getting back to me. I have attached a Rhino-file with “proxy-objects”.
Same problem with a different date. Zip-file includes two folders with my tests.

Any progress on this issue? I need the functionality for a project in an “urban environment” very soon.
