In the German version, Strg+Alt+V (Ctrl+Alt+V) doesn’t work.
It acts as Ctrl+V.
Ctrl+J in the English version works.

hi Charles,
thanks, I will try in that version. Currently, the keyboard shortcut system is being rewritten.
Hmm, the same shortcut doesn’t work in V5 as well.
I doubt it has to do with the current work on the shortcuts.
I cannot reproduce that issue here. I wonder if it is keyboard specific, although that seems weird to me.
If you switch to English, the same keys do produce a result? That part was not very clear since you were saying:
Testing this: makes me wonder why the shortcuts in German are different than in English. Maybe this has something to do with it.
In any case, adding shortcuts in 8.12 is currently not working correctly, so it is hard to test this stuff. It’s not fully working in 8.13 either yet.
Haha!
I wanted to make Strg+J a shortcut for _Join.
Before doing so, I tried Strg+J.
And voila, this works in the German version.
So the function itself is ok, but the German menu is wrong.
Out of curiosity I made a new shortcut for Join, Ctrl+Alt+V.
Doesn’t stick.
OK, you said it’s not fully working (=broken) right now.
Same issue:
Ctrl+Shift+T
Let me first discuss this internally before making any YT’s. To me it seems odd that the default Keyboard shortcuts on English and German are not the same, but I don’t know how long this has been the case.
2 posts were split to a new topic: Vray data version message when pasting
Any news on this?
Because in (8.13.24282.10001, 2024-10-08), Ctrl+Alt+V = ! _Join is listed:
Doesn’t work.
Strg+Alt+V still acts as Strg+V.
(Strg+Alt+W/X surprisingly works.)
Strg+J now doesn’t work anymore.
BTW, Ctrl should read Strg in the German UI.
hi Charles,
no definite answer, now logged as:
RH-84245 Different default keyboard shortcut keys in German
RH-84246 Ctrl needs to read as Strg if Rhino is run in German
Hey Charles,
If you make a new keyboard shortcut and press your Strg key, does it show Strg in the display or Ctrl?
Tim
Hi Tim, look:
More remarks…:
When the Shortcut Editor opens, the text reads
Shortcut
.
And now?
Clear to you what to do.
Couldn’t it read
Press key combination (on keyboard)
?
When I press Ctrl, it reads
Shortcut is invalid. Please use another combination.
First, Ctrl alone is not a combination.
When I release the Ctrl, then that text is still there.
Couldn’t there be a hint that says
Press at least one additional key
?
And when all keys are released, then
Press key combination (on keyboard)
should show.
thanks Charles,
I added:
RH-84294 Keyboard shortcut dialog texts
Maybe, but on the other hand, let’s wait and see if this a real issue. Besides, it can turn into an endless series of messages, when the user presses Ctrl, then Ctrl+Shift, then Ctrl+Alt+Shift.
I don’t think this is a good idea. Pressing a key combination allows you to then click the OK / replace button, without having to hold the keys. That’s why they stay put.
Yes, you are right!
RH-84294 is fixed in Rhino 8 Service Release 14
