Stitch/Weld for vertices

Similar to the workflow for stitching/welding edges, I believe the workflow for stitching/welding vertices can be improved. SubD modeling is repetitive and minimizing keyboard strokes greatly improves modeling speed.

Steps required in Rhino to stitch/weld two vertices to the average location.
-Stitch
-Select Vertex1
-Enter
-Select Vertex2
-Enter
-Enter again to accept default average location

Steps required in T-Splines to stitch/weld two vertices to the average location
-Window select two vertices
-Hit Z on the keyboard

Steps required in Rhino to stitch/weld two vertices to either first or second location
-Stitch
-Select Vertex1
-Enter
-Select Vertex2
-Enter
-Select First or Second in command line

Steps required in T-Splines to stitch/weld two vertices to either first or second location
-Hit Z on keyboard
-Select Vertex1
-Select Vertex2 (First selected Vertex jumps to second selected Vertex)

While I’m not suggesting copying the T-Splines commands minimizing the number of steps required to perform tasks in SubD modeling is really, really helpful.
Thanks,
Mark.

Thanks for pointing this out Mark. Similar to all other SubD packages I think. Modo has a very similar workflow to weld to second/weld to average.

I tried to edit a couple do meshes yesterday and it’s very time-consuming right now.

On a similar line of thinking, face selection should equal selecting the edges of faces, and edge selection should equal selecting the vertices of edges.

So, for example, if I select a subD face and call _Crease, Rhino should crease the edges of that face. Currently, Rhino deselects the face and prompts me to select edges to crease.

@gustojunk and @Max3. I agree that it’s time consuming at the moment. However I’m also finding that some of it is user inexperience from my side. Clearly this is an all new interface for Rhino and I’m just finding out where everything is.

Window Select 2 vertices followed by Stitch and enter welds vertices to the average location. I will hotkey the Stitch command and this will be acceptable for me. Learning new stuff every day :slightly_smiling_face:
