I want to export this as a STEP file. It only creates a .stpbak
What do I do wrong?

Hard to tell. Can you check if the step exporter plugin is loaded right? Does it fail on eg. a simple cube as well?
Anyhow, here’s the resulting step from my V8 (I’m still on the last beta version) - exports without any problems.

it exports in the latest Rhino 8 (8.1.23311.13281, 2023-11-07) from yesterday, here your step file:

The problem was windows explorer. It hid the files… I just checked to show hidden files, now it works
