Single line engraving font no longer works in Rhino-8

I used the Mecsoft-Font-1 and the Rhss single line fonts many times before in single line engraving of panels. Now the fonts (using Text object) do not come up as single line, but as a broken ended double line font. Yes, engraving font is ticked in the box.
Oddly, when using the Rhss font, the very first time the font is entered, AFTER a Rhino restart, the font is correct ( single line), but not sized correctly.
Enter a second text line after that, and it is all double again.

Both these fonts used to work - 6 months ago I last did this.
My Rhino version -

Rhino 8 SR19 2025-5-12 (Rhino 8, 8.19.25132.01001, Git hash:master @ 57e3eb280b0f32cbe59f53a554be5e8ffa66fc36)
License type: Commercial, build 2025-05-12

The image shows a plain Arial text, the Mecsoft-font version of that text, and the Rhss versions, after a restart and a second entry after that.

Any Ideas??

Have you tried SLF-RHN font ? It comes with Rhino and you might even have a default annotation style called ‘Engrave’

Actually, I believe the actual font is not the problem..
It seems that Rhino ignores the actual font selected, or if not, just uses the same font for each of the three selections.
This image shows a plain text font, top line, and the next three are
SLF-RHN
RhSS
Mecsoft_font-1
The result is identical for all three..
What gives?

Not seeing that here:

Rhino 8.21.25175.17001, 2025-06-24

I have sorted it - but it is a Rhino Bug for sure…

enter Text Object,
Select any of the three fonts
enter the desired text.
Then click capital A ( right of the Font line) and then the font placed is single line!
And every new text place after that remains single line…
Rhino is fun..

This looks similar to the sticking italics issue…

I haven’t replicated your problem - I wondered if creating an Arial object first made a difference but it didn’t - but I do see that once you have used the MecSoft font, the Engraving font box is ticked and greyed out so you can no longer unset it, even by selecting a new font or forcing a reformat with the ‘A’. A companion bug to yours.

You are correct..
If I exit Rhino and start again, the problem is present.
Select mecsoft font - the engraving font tick box is bold, not greyed.
Any text then placed is double line.
Click on ‘A’ to force upper case ( or ‘a’ for lower case..)
Then all text places as single line and the engraving font tick box is greyed out thereafter and further placed text is single line.

I am seeing the exact same behavior. Grateful for the solution, but this should not be required.
