Single-Line Font Issue in Rhino with TextObject – Missing Strokes

Hi everyone,

Due to my use of laser engraving, it’s important for me to work with single-line fonts that generate clean vector paths. I’m currently using a font called “CNC Vector”, which is designed for this purpose.

When I use the TextObject command in Rhino, the font is correctly converted into curves and appears to work well. However, I’m experiencing an issue: some parts of the letters are missing after insertion, especially vertical lines in characters like “n”, “h”, and “y”.

Has anyone encountered a similar problem?
Is there a simple fix or workaround to ensure all letter parts are included?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

Hi Marcin,

Short answer is: upgrade to Rhino 8 where this font seems to work ok.

However note that, at least in the version I downloaded, it will draw many of the curves twice.

If you don’t want to upgrade Rhino, you can swap to the MecSoft_Font-1 which will work in Rhino 7.

This used to be distributed with Rhino but I’m not sure that is still the case - if not, then you can download it here: Engraving Fonts for Rhino [McNeel Wiki]
