Selecting all objects on a layer via Layer selection panel

In Windows version I can select all instances on a layer by picking one of the object that belongs to it.
In Mac I can only do it via Selection Layer panel by picking the exact name. It is pain if there are hundreds of layers, often with similar name.
Can we have this functionality in mac?

Here is a script from my library that does this - I think maybe I wrote it to add that function in Mac Rhino a long time back…
