Select All Objects in Layer of Selected Object?

Hi,

I often find myself doing this:

Select an object > select object layer > select all objects in that layer.

I would be nice if there was a way to automate this to say:

A. Pick an object to select all objects in the pick’s layer
B. Preselect and object and then select all objects on same layer.

should do it.

If there is a pre-selection, that is currently ignored - it seems like it ought to accpet that, with one more Enter.
