I’ve been having this problem recently where I set my levels and add my section cuts but when I save my Rhino file and re-open it, all of my VisualARQ sections and level information is gone and the section cut blocks are all that remain. Is this a bug?
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
Thank you for reaching out!
Could you please send the Rhino file where this happened?
I’ll take a look and see what might be going wrong with the level and section data.
Looking forward to checking it out!
Best,
Melissa
Hi Melissa! Thanks for reaching back out. I have attached a portion of the file due to its size, but I have retained the Visual ARQ layers with the sections. As you will see when you open the file, the VisualARQ section blocks exist, but the sections and level data are missing.
I am current on my video drivers and have the latest updates of both Rhino 8 and VisualARQ.
This file is saved to my attached NAS device; I’m not sure if this may be a contributing factor to the problem. I have also saved it to my desktop, but the same problem exists.
Attached is my system log.
System log_25.06.02.txt (2.7 KB)
VARQIssue_RD Base Model-25.06.02.3dm (10.8 MB)
I look forward to hearing back to know what might be causing this issue.
Thank you kindly,
Chris
Hi Chris,
Thanks for reaching out and sharing your file.
It looks like the file might be corrupted. Do you remember if Rhino crashed or if there was any error before saving? Also, sometimes this happens if the “Save plugin data” option was turned off when saving — that would explain why the sections and levels are missing.
You can try checking your backup files or the autosave folder to see if there’s a version where the info is still there.
Let me know.
Regards,
Melissa
Hi Melissa,
That’s interesting. I do have the boxes ticked. When saving the files, I save them normally. I also do a “Save As” to change dates. This always completes without any issues or crashes. I did look in my Autosave folder and opened the related file; the information was indeed there.
Is there a reason this would occur without crashing Rhino or notifying me that it has crashed? I would hate the need to continually open the autosave file, which seems to corrupt itself somehow.
Thanks!
Chris
Hi Chris,
That is definitely strange—especially since Rhino didn’t crash or show any error message. Normally, if something goes wrong during saving, you’d get some sort of notification.
At the moment, without more info about a crash or any error message, it’s hard for me to pinpoint what’s going on.
So for now, please keep an eye on it, and if it happens again, let us know right away so we can dig deeper.
Thanks again for reaching out!
Best,
Melissa
