Scanning with a selfie stick - need for some Bluetooth or vocal commands!

Hi @mkarimi ,

I have to scan feet in a weight-bearing position on the floor, so I’m trying to use a selfie stick. This will be great for my back, as I will avoid pain from bad postures while scanning. The problem is that I must touch the iPhone screen to start/continue/finish. The selfie stick Bluetooth, as it is, is not of help. Is there any way to use Bluetooth or vocal commands and to avoid bending to touch the iPhone screen?
Then why I can’t no longer save in Rhino 7?
Thanks!

I think this can help you?

Thanks! It will be cool if it will works - I’ll try it!

Good luck and post the results here as it might help others in the future in a similar situation

Or because thats just so cool to be able to steer something with our eyes i know id use it lol :joy:

I’ve tried - at least in my case doesn’t work. The iPhone is at 70-80 cm and I can’t have the control of the pointer. Probably it works for small distances! Anyway - thanks!

Bummer says so here on the website to

Found this tho looks interesting Custom voice commands

This is what I’m studying now!
The Eye Tracking will not work as the iPhone is at the end of the stick (60 cm) so not on a stable surface

Says application and action to so looks like it can work

I have a cheap Bluetooth remote button (like $10) which does work to take images remotely with my iPhone camera… Don’t know if it will work to start/stop with your scan app.

Very interesting suggestions. You should be able to use a mouse/trackpad

But to answer your question, there isn’t at this point a way to control the app with your voice. Let me know if none of the solutions above work for you and we’ll look into it.

We build iRhino from the latest WIP source code (v9) and allow saving to one version down.
You can downsave to older versions using desktop Rhino

Why you don’t develop it for the last 2 versions?
Could you tell me which is the last verion who support Rhino 7?
Thanks!

IDK, it’s an arbitrary decision I made. I guess to promote use of Rhino 8 given that it’s a free app.

We’ve made this change a long time ago, Testflight builds expire after 90 days, so going 90 days back still gives you a 9.x version.

I guess (in fact almost sure) it was a bad decision at least for some users who still can’t upgrade to Rhino 8 but can work a lot with iRhino3D…

I thought about this but it means installing Rhino 8 and after 90 days I will be stuck. For now Rhino 7 is enough for me. What other solution could I have because I rely on iRhino3D in my work

The Selfie Stick has incorporated a Bluetooth but can’t control with it iRhino3D commands!

You can try this maybe, I haven’t personally tried it

Are there issues in Rhino 8 that stop you from upgrading? Maybe worth posting them in a separate thread so other devs can take a look

Yes - money!!!
And the fact seems I can do my work in Rhino 7!

It works but I lose the texture which is very important for me in the communication with patients and other professionals (I’m working with 3dprinted foot orthosis and footwear)
So I bought a second hand iPhone glad I can use iRhino3D and integrate it with all my work done in Rhinoceros7-Grasshopper-ShapeDiver.
And now I can’t use it because iRhino3D doesn’t save in Rhino7 as it was in the beginning. This is frustrating!
