I have just bought a new iphone, so made sure I got a model that had the hardware to scan stuff into iRhino.
I just did my first test scan of a tape measure, since it was lying around and a small object.
I can’t say I expected much; I took no special care and skipped some of the steps, but when it had finished processing I was just gobsmacked!
This is a view capture from rhino 8. The other thing that stunned me is that it is exactly the right dimensions, without me having to do anything at all.
I was expecting that the mesh would be pretty rough, and indeed its not usable for anything without the texture maps, which are really astounding, in that they capture the whole thing very crisply.
It gives me some confidence that what I was hoping to scan and use in a model might not be too much of a drama at all, if I take some care to set up the scan, as opposed to no care at all for this test!.
So well done Apple & iRhino!
The only weird thing was that i couldn’t send the model to myself via email, which I needed to do since my desktop rhino is on a windows machine.
(I got around that by air dropping it to my partners mac, and she emailed it to me from there).
Yes..
but when I go to the files folder where I’ve saved the scan, select the file, and choose Gmail, I get a popup saying “File can’t be attached- the file TapeMeasure.3dm can’t be sent as an attachment “
I don’t know what that’s about, I’ve never seen it before…??
