Rhino Inside Revit WIP Build Expired

Hello,

When I open the Rhino WIP button from Revit (2019), I get an error that the WIP build has expired.
Rhino-Inside-Revit-001
I just updated the WIP version I have 3 days ago, I know I have the most up-to-date version.

When I go to open the Rhino WIP on its own it works normally.

Has anyone else experienced this or seen this?

Thank you,

Lynn

I believe you might need a new install of the “Rhino.Inside Revit” build.

Hi @stevebaer,
That seemed to work! Silly me - I should’ve checked that before.
It works as There is a new popup when I open Revit.
Rhino-Inside-Revit-004
Is that something I could fix?
Thanks!

Please try uninstalling Rhino.Inside Revit and reinstalling it back.
Before installing again please check you don’t have those files:

  • %ProgramData%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\%RevitVersion%\RhinoInside.Revit.addin
  • %APPDATA%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\%RevitVersion%\RhinoInside.Revit.addin

Hi @kike,
Yes! That worked. So glad we have this up and running now.

Thank you all so much for your help!

Hi @quagliatol
I have the same problem you had and I try to update my RhinoInsideRevit but everytime I restart Revit it ends up with being the same old version instead of the new. How exactly did you uninstall this old version, since I have been in the Revit%Addins folder, but I can not find Rhino Inside in that folder.

Hi @jd11,

This may be due you downloaded again the same old installer version.
Try to download it again with an other browser or try clearing your browser cache:

Hi @kike

I tried to clear the cache and install with both chrome and edge again, it did not work and I got the same message as before.

Regards
Jonathan

I thought you were receiving this error message.

Rhino-Inside-Revit-004

But it looks like your version number does not increase after update.

After you uninstall please remove the RhinoInside.Revit.addin file and a folder called RhinoInside.Revit there is at the Revit Addins folder.

The Revit Addins folder are two, please check both.

  • %ProgramData%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\%RevitVersion%\RhinoInside.Revit.addin
  • %APPDATA%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\%RevitVersion%\RhinoInside.Revit.addin

Also see this, maybe it can help

Having the exact same problem!
Can not update the RIR plug inn.

And I’m in a deadline!

Please make it a little easier. thanks.

Download and install to see if it resolves all the load problems.

Because this is a major change, it does require additional steps to install properly:

  1. Make sure Revit is closed
  2. This step is quite important. Uninstall any previous versions of Rhino.Inside.Revit through Windows Control Panel > Programs and Features
  3. Download the latest Rhino.Inside.Revit
  4. Install the new Rhino.Inside.Revit. This new installer requires Administrator privileges to install properly.

Thanks

I have the latest update available in the website and it is giving me 10 days expiry warning.
Do I have an old version or it will be updated soon ?

thanks for your time

@scottd @kike Same for me as above - I just downloaded the latest WIP but it says it’s an old one with 10 days left. The release notes say there should be a new one today “Build Time: 03/04/2021 17:48:12” Can the download link be updated? Thank you!

See my post above. I’m pretty sure you’re having that same issue and you can use that to fix it.

Thanks, but that’s not it. The download available was published 1/28/2021, it’s not the latest. I can’t seem to download the latest build.

I think I see what you mean. If you check the build log, the newest and second newest builds have the same release number even though their build time is 6 weeks apart. I’m not sure if that is a mistake, or what.

Also in the installer it says it was built 1/28/21 so I think they just didn’t upload the correct installer to the website.

I am having the same problem as well…

I tried to:

  1. Close Revit, close Rhino
  2. Use the Windows uninstaller tool to uninstall Rhino.Inside
  3. Uninstall all remaining Rhino.Inside components under “this PC”
  4. Delete browser Cache
  5. Download the newest Rhino.Inside version
  6. Install the newest Rhino.Inside version
  7. Restart computer
  8. Run Revit, click Rhino.Insde Add.In

It will still, somehow, load a really old version into Revit and not the current one (so it won’t run, because “This WIP has expired”… At this point I don’t know what else to do

Problem was solved:

When uninstalling throught Windows Uninstaller tool, the addin got deleted on both folders:

%ProgramData%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\%RevitVersion%\RhinoInside.Revit.addin
%APPDATA%\Autodesk\Revit\Addins\%RevitVersion%\RhinoInside.Revit.addin

It did not, however, got deleted under “User”, so make sure it gets deleted there too…

Hope this helps
