Rhino.Inside Revit Plugin Crashing

I have been dealing with a users machine where we are just unable to get rhino.inside to work in Revit 2020 (we have extended support for the 2020 version). The plugin shows in the ribbon, but on trying to launch, revit hangs, the 'Preparing Plugin For First Time Run; dialogue box appears, this then hangs and after a few moments Revit crashes out.

System Information in Rhino gives:

If I check eventviewer I see:

Rhino and Revit have both been reinstalled, and the Rhino.Inside plugin was installed from the latest available on the wbsite.

Any suggestions for this one please?

Hi Steve,

This is most likely a configuration or Revit Addin conflict.

Lets isolate the variables and go from there.

The first step is to open Revit without any other addins.

Disabling 3rd party Rhino plugins would the next step. Do this by opening Rhino, go to Settings>Plugins> sort by 3rd party and disable.

Thanks for the quick reply @Japhy
I’ve tried the shift click on revit.inside to launch that with no other plugins loaded in revit.
We are now stuck in a ‘the plugin could not be loaded’ lpp:

I can select option 1 and it just loops back to the same screen after a little while trying to load.

I have chosen to ‘run in verbose mode’ which gives us the next screen:

Does this point to the issue being at the Rhino side?

The plugin conflicts generally happen when a Revit Addin loads a shared .dll that is of a different version. In Revit the first addin to load wins. Try isolating with this tool.

Hey, thanks. Tried that one too, disabled all and the same thing happens.

Have you disabled these 3rd party Rhino plugins as well?

I believe so - but I’ll go back to the user in the morning and follow up. Thanks for the help so far…

As a futher update to this, we are also seeing the same issue with a fresh install of Revit 2024.
IT has no other Addins loaded (and we followed the steps to only load Rhino.Inside anyway) all Rhino addins, other than those loaded in safemode have been disabled too.
I have attached the crash report, this has also been sent in via email.

Are there any further suggestions with this one?

Thanks, we’ll take a look.

Hi @Japhy has there been the chance to look over the logs yet?

Hey - apologies to keep pushing, but any chance of getting an ETA for this. Appreciate we might not get a fix, but an update as to where we are would be useful.

Hi Steve, I didn’t see any of the typical red flags in the zip you provided, i did send your info to the devs but they haven’t had anything to add yet. I’ll poke them about it here in a bit.

Were these removed for testing purposes? I’m leaning towards a graphics config problem.
