Welcome to the Revit’s category organization. Revit has a few different kind of categories and Walls happen to be one of the special ones. Technically by default the Walls category cannot host DirectShapes, but only support System Families
So, there are two options:
We have a full list of categories in Revit and what types of objects that can be created in each.
I know this is a lot of information to work through. But, understanding a lot of the Revit organization can really help manipulate the Revit models to get what is needed for the job.
Hey @scottd

Hi Eric,
I’ll take a look, what version of Revit & Rhino are you using?
There is also the Wall by Face method (scripted) that could be used.
I am using Revit 2025.4.2 and Rhino Version 8 SR22
