having same issue. opening older v8 file from wip times crashes.

@ivan.galik , @emge, @Jared1 if you have not, when Rhino goes down, if you see a crash report interface from McNeel, please send that in.

-Pascal

i sent the report. i found out when i import the file in new file it works.

Tried this too, importing the file. Did not work, rhino immediately crash when i click on the file.
On rhino versions 7 and 8, same computer.

Found out right now!
If i use the windows file explorer and double click the file, rhino will open it without crash.
Then i tried to saved the file with a new name. If opening this copy again into rhino, program crashes again.
So this workaround does not help

@emge I was unable to reproduce this issue in Rhino 7 or Rhino 8 running on Windows 11. I asked a developer to look at your crash reports and it seems that Rhino can’t access a DLL named “FilrAppHook64.DLL” on your system. All of your recent crashes are the same cause. The guess is that another app on this system is the cause such as a sound card application for instance. Or some app that manages multiple displays. Can you run Rhino in Safe Mode using the Windows Start menu item when searching for ‘Rhino’ and open a file without crashing?

That dll is associated with the Filr OpenText file sharing app from MicroFocus. Is that something @emge and @ivan.galik are using? If not then it would make sense to uninstall it.

Historically the dll wouldn’t load if Secure Boot was enabled. I don’t know if that is still so.

Did some tryouts
I stopped Filr and all processes. Did not help
Then i figured out:
Copied one File, which crashes, from my Dropbox Folder to my desktop folder.
Then I could open it!!

NOW WHAT I DO NOT UNDERSTAND!
Since this, I can open all my Files without any more shutdown.
So, problem looks like solved

Thank you all for Support
