I first experienced some buggy behavior with the left side standard tool panel.
when clicking on the icons , the pop-up panels froze.
in the proces of trying to click it away, suddenly the whole side panel disappeared !
I have tried re-installing Rhino 8 , but its still the same: No Commandline, no tool-panels
really weird…
hi @tim.ulmen can you run _SystemInfo in Rhino and post back the results? If this doesn’t work in your Rhino 8, run it inside a previous Rhino version you have as a starting point.
Do you have a commandline? If not, you can get it back through Window > Window Layouts > Default:

I took another look this morning at your emails. I apologize for not reading them more carefully. I recently switched from Rhino 6 for PC to Rhino 8 for Mac (I’ve been waiting for this version since 2019 lol). Anyways, when you said “windows” my brain defaulted to the OS not the ribbon right in front of me on the screen of my MAC.
That solved the immediate issue. I’ll track down what caused it if I can (aka repeat the sequence of uses) and send you what I find.
Thank you! Once again Rhino support is the best in the biz.
Hi, I’m having the same problem but the solution is not helping. When I first installed Rhino 8 the UI was intact (although buggy), but now the command line is missing. One day I was able to get a floating version of the command line palette, but now I can’t find that either. Reseting to Default Window Layout does not work. I found a Reset Rhino option once (did not do it) and cannot find that again either. My interface does not seem to be matching up with various instructions I’m finding on the internet. I could reinstall from scratch but I’m concerned it’ll just happen again. Thanks for any help you can offer!
@Meghan_Beckmann If you type Reset, do you get a commandline? If you press Cmd+K, could you type Reset there and does that work?
If Reset works, could your restore to Factory defaults, but before doing so, click the “Save settings for Support…” and send that to us here?
Similar problem here on updating to 8.4.24044.15002, only its now “undocked” and appears randomly on one of 3 displays, and I have no idea how to get it back to the left side “container” (although it doesn’t look like a container, doesn’t appear in the panels list or anything, so no idea how it’s there originally.
I noted that an other weirdness on the 8.4.24044.15002 update here:
Hi, unfortunately I am facing the same problem. I’ve tried all the steps mentioned here, but the command line is still missing. Is there any way to get it back?
@Giada1 Did you try to run _Reset and then factory defaults? Note that this will wipe you settings, please also save settings for support in that dialog.
