As long as I remember I had this problem in Rhino 8, I don’t recall if I reported it already. Since we are out of beta, I hope to get rid of it and be able to draw lines as smoothly as in Rhino 7.
Growing lag when drawing quickly is clearly visible, less visible but something I can see and feel is less smooth line movement when I orbit the cursor.

I can clearly see the difference in your video, but I cannot duplicate it here…although I’m running a significantly faster configuration atm.
What happens if/when you turn off (hide) Rhino’s status bar and then try the same test? I ask because it has been the cause of many of these types of issues over the course of the V8 cycle, and we’ve been optimizing each one as we come across them… But since I can’t reproduce the problem, I cannot confirm that the status bar updates are the cause… So please let me know if this makes any difference and we can go from there…
It looks like it’s the command prompt that’s causing the lag… And you can’t just hide it (because it still exists, you just can’t see it)… You need to hide it, then restart Rhino…but once you show it again, the problem will return and remain…until you redo the above.
Obviously this isn’t a solution or even a workaround…I’m only stating our findings atm…I will continue digging into this to see if I can figure out what the command prompt is doing differently than it does in V7.
Fullscreen viewport or turning off Osnaps as Pascal suggested makes no difference. I’m using a Razer Orochi V2 mouse without any dedicated software, I don’t have any other mouse to test but thanks to chunky touchpad buttons I was able to test it using the touchpad, and it’s the same… If you want I can grab a Wacom Intuos tablet, but it’s in my drawer somewhere, so only if necessary
Anyway, you are right about restarting Rhino without the command prompt it is “solving” the problem on my machine too.
@Czaja are you still seeing this bug in Rhino 8? I’m having a heck of a time trying to repeat it. If you are still seeing this bug, does it also happen in the curve command?

I made some optimizations to the polyline command that hopefully will fix this. This fix will be in the Rhino 8.8 release candidate which we will begin shipping next week.
@Czaja and @anon please test the 8.8 release candidate. I think I made this faster, but without really being able to reproduce the bug I am only guessing at this point.
Thanks. After installing 8.8.24135.14001 yesterday, the first run of the Polyline command started with a spinning blue cursor for a moment, and I haven’t seen that in subsequent trials. In my case, the lag is slightly reduced but it is still pronounced.
