Rhino 8 not printing correctly

Hi Everyone,

I recently installed Rhino 8 and am having trouble with all printers printing to scale.

In rhino 7 I could print in a 1:1 scale without any issues

In rhino 8 using all the same printer settings this is the preview I get:

this is the same for all 13 printers and exports listed.
Rhino PDF setting seems to scale it correctly

Below are the results from printing from both Rhino 7 and 8, again using all the same printer settings.
(I am running Rhino 8.3)

Any idea on how I would fix this?

Thanks,
Paul

Hi Paul, I’ll check this, thanks.
@PAUL_HIGG - the second set of images - when you switch to image file - I see the ‘paper’ size varies from Tabloiod (pdf), to 8.5 by 11 (Image) and then Legal (back to pdf)

Yes you are correct, I didn’t notice that. Thanks

Hey, I just downloaded 8.4 and I am still having the same issues as I had before with all printers.
I am currently printing everything as a pdf and then printing from the pdf as that is the only way I can get things to scale correctly.

Below is what happens when I print directly from rhino to a 3rd party printer;

Result having printed using the settings above:

When I use Microsoft print to PDF function rather than Rhino’s inbuild pdf function this is what happens;

This is the given selection box for printing 11x17 full scale on any other printer than rhino pdf;

Rhino 7 is still printing correctly using all the same settings, I am only having the issue on rhino 8.

Any ideas on what I’m doing wrong or how to fix the issue?
Thanks,
Paul

Thanks, I reopened the YouTrack issue to get more attention.

@PAUL_HIGG you mentioned that you are running 8.4. This issue was fixed in 8.5 which we just began shipping release candidates for. At least we think this issue is fixed. Please give it a try and let us know. Here are instructions on getting release candidates.

Hey steve, just downloaded 8.5. I don’t know is it something wrong with my computer or setting but there are still issues with printing.

I didn’t have issue printing with rhino 8.4 to rhino pdf, now I do, (see below)

Printing using Rhino pdf, scale changed to 1:1

After pressing set window to move the printing box this is the box given

Press enter and it has now scaled to 219.73%

After selecting scale 1:1 and pressing set the printing box seems to revert back to whatever box had been drawn previously. (using a brother printer, same issue as rhino pdf)

Draw large printing box:

press enter, change scale from 26.78% (random large box) to 1:1 and press set window. Given print box remains the same large box, not a 1:1 scale box.

Any idea how to fix?
thanks,
Paul

Hey,
I have noticed that the orientation of the page doesn’t change when you go to set window in print. see below;
Portrait selected, in view output and scale > window set

Set window shows as landscape

I am also still having issues with scaling after pressing window and set as per my previous comment.

Any idea how to fix this?

Thanks,
Paul

I’m able to repeat this and am working on a fix that should make it into next week’s 8.5 release candidate. I believe my fix will also fix the scale issue above you reported.

Thanks
