I’m working in Rhino 7 and exporting models to SketchUp. I’ve properly grouped my geometry into blocks and assigned layers (tags) to them before exporting.
In SketchUp, each layer shows up correctly as its own tag. The problem: when I hide a tag in SketchUp, the object doesn’t fully disappear. Instead, connected outline/edge lines stay visible — like a contour of the object, but not filled/shaded. The surface itself is gone, but the lines remain.
If I try to delete those leftover lines, it deletes the whole object instead — which makes the file unusable for people who only work in SketchUp (e.g. for architectural/building models).
I’ve read that this might be a known issue: surfaces get correctly assigned to the tag on export, but the automatically generated outline/edge lines stay untagged.
What’s the fastest way to fix this — either an export setting in Rhino, or a clean workflow to correct it after import in SketchUp — so the file works properly for SketchUp-only users without this manual cleanup every time?
