Rhino 7 default display options have been overridden. Unable to change

Hi all,

I am currently having an issue with my rhino 7 display options. I recently opened a rhino file that had its own custom settings for the shaded and rendered display options. Since opening this file, all my other rhino 7 files have changed to this display setting too. Anytime I make changes and try to restore defaults, the display just takes me back to the initial problem. It seems to have overridden rhino’s true default display options.

Here is a screenshot I took comparing rhino 7 (left) and rhino 8 (right) different shaded views.

The rendered display looks completely different too.

Could you try to click the Restore Defaults button to reset the display setting?

Hi Jessesn,

Unfortunately that does nothing. If I make adjustments to the display settings and then click ‘restore defaults’ it just restores to the original problem shown in the screenshots above.

I’d like to know which version of Rhino 7 are you using now? Please run the command SystemInfo in the comand line of Rhino 7 and post all popup content here. Thanks.

Does the emap file actually exist?
It should be located in your C:\Program Files\Rhino 7\System folder.
rhino_shaded_mode_emap_background
Save it as “rhino_shaded_mode_emap_background.png” …

Are you able to use any other picture?

Also at the bottom of that menu, there is the lightning setting, here’s mine, never edited:

Hi, yep all settings are the same and I have that emap file in my system folder.

Since I am using a university desktop to run rhino I will contact my university IT department to see if they can resolve it. Thank you for your assistance!

Hi Lachie -

Note that this is not supported.
