Rhino 7 annoying interface colour changes from Rhino 6

Have just upgraded to Rhino 7 and first thing I noticed was that the layout tabs at the bottom of the model do not change colour when active. Where do I change this ?
There is nothiing in Options/Appearance/colours that seem to change this

I searched “TAB” in the tools/options/advanced menu and found this:

[tools/Options/advanced/UiPaintColors.InactiveTabBackground]

But changing this seems to have no effect on the layout tabs ??

I also checked this in my old Rhno 6 (that I have kept) and for some reason when you change the colour in:

[tools/Options/advanced/UiPaintColors.InactiveTabBackground]

it ACTUALLY CHANGES THE BACKGROUND OF THE PROPERTIES WINDOW.

Back in Rhino 7 I checked is was the case in Rhino 7 by opening the “properties window”
When I changed the colour in [tools/Options/advanced/UiPaintColors.InactiveTabBackground]

Nothing happened ao I have no idea what changing the colour in
[tools/Options/advanced/UiPaintColors.InactiveTabBackground] does ??

So back to my original issue where are the “active” and “inactive” layout tab colours set in Rhinio 7??

The default colours for the layout tabs in Rhino 6 worked fine so why did this get changed in Rhino 7 ??

I also tried to import my Rhino 6 ini settings to Rhino 7 and this raised another issue where the LAYERS WINDOW background turned black so I could not read any of the text (that was also black).

Final issue Rhino 7 said a font was missing in windows and subsituted Arlal for all my notations and dimensions in a Rhino 6 model I opened in Rhino 7. This messed up all my detail layouts as text crossed into adjacent details.

I went into “annotation styles” and sure enough Rhino7 had changed all my fonts to Arial. BUT the font I originally had was listed so I had to change all my fonts manually to the listed font (which was Calibri).

I am glad I kept Rhino 6 as now with Rhino 7 I am getting held up sorting out weird changes that mean I have to spend time on them. At least I can use Rhino 6 producitvley while I try to sort out the issues in Rhino 7.

Clearly the move from Rhino 6 to Rhino 7 is going to be uphill so thanks Mcneel for not making this a smooth changeover.

No need to be snarky, most Rhino users did this changeover years ago and didn’t have any of those problems. Please provide files to allow for actual testing. Also if you didn’t want the make-the-active-tab-a-different-color thing to go away(which no one else cares about) you should have participated in the V7 WIP process.

Hi -

The advanced Rhino.Options.UiPaintColors.InactiveTabBackground setting allows you to change the background color of the inactive tabs. By default in Rhino 7, this is set to #FFFFFF00, which is 100% transparent white. If you only change the base color but not the transparency, you will not notice any difference because the transparency makes it appear as the active tab color.

Trying to get the default setting to not be 100% transparent in Rhino 7 is on the list as - RH-68842 Fix of InactiveTabBackground color is lost - but it doesn’t look like that will get any attention before Rhino 8 is release, at which point Rhino 8 becomes the fix…

Many thanks Wim

I found your post a little time after I posted my query and it works fine now.

It’s a pity the defaults have been changed between Rhino 6 and Rhino 7

I also notice the wire cut command sequence has been changed so the you now have to press enter/RMB three times

And LMB twice.

Before it was LMB twice and [Enter] or RMB once.

Having got used to this it seems odd to change this in Rhino 7 ?

Before in Rhino 6:

select line [LMB]

Select object [LMB]

[ENTER] or [RMB]

First cut depth point. Press enter to cut through object (Normal to curve, delete input=No, Both sides=No, Keep all=Yes [LMB}

Now its:

select line [LMB]

[ENTER] or [RMB]

Select object [LMB]

[ENTER] or [RMB]

First cut depth point. Press enter to cut through object (Normal to curve, delete input=No,Both sides=yes, Keep all=Yes [LMB}

[ENTER] or [RMB]

For some reason “Keep all” does not work (part is not split but cut and part is deleted ??

Is this because I have imported a Rhino 6 drawing ? or is there a setting I need to change
