Rhino 6 won't start after installation

The odd thing is that he was able to start it.
As he is km away from the office he uses team viewer.
He started the Rhino with the inserted license code I received in my email.
After that I tried to open a file from the already running rhino but was unable to access our file server.
So I restarted and then it did not run anymore.

That’s very strange. It looks like your computer is configured to not allow Rhino to run the way it normally does. We have thousands of people a day successfully start Rhino - so I’m thinking this might be related to your configuration. Unfortunately, I don’t have a good idea about what that configuration might be. It might be helpful to put me in contact with your IT person so I can talk about what might be unique about how he has things set up.

You need to check your Network administrator, if you have an active directory, domain server you need to add your ID to take a full access.

Many thanks for your help. Our IT said confirmed this is something related with windows registry.
When Rhino is opened by the administrator there is no issue.
I will keep the program running and when there will be time in the future the IT will repair the system.
So that I can open it without the need of running Rhino as administrator.

I have the similar problem, My rhino6 cannot open, it just frozen everytime, It works perfect in the safe mode, I have the plug-in include the Vray and enscape, But I have already remove them. And I have also tried to install 6.5 6.7 & 6.10 version, still the same. SOS

Use the Windows Device manager to check the driver dates for your display adapters.
There may be two.

ahh, thank U for your answer. I came home and the problem is just fixed, I think it is probably that I connected a second monitor in the office, maybe is a BUG? Anyway, thank U so much!

It could be that the second monitor triggers a bug.
My first action would be to check the driver dates of your display adapters and update them before trying the second monitor again.
It’s possible your adapter just isn’t capable of driving so much screen space. Most adapters that offer good OpenGL support should and will support multiple monitors.

I’m driving two 27" monitors on a Quadro P2000 display adapter.

Guys, i have the same problem (no charge the viewports and freeze) , and my solutions was (after much hard) is the Hz frequency of my Video Card, change the 60hz at 75hz (or check you profile )

maybe that can help you guys.

So i got the Rhino6 testversion for Windows, and downloaded it on my laptop.
When it was installed i tried to start the application, but it wouldnt.
I tried several times and even took my laptop to the IT expert at my university.
He too tried different things and was not able to find the issue, apparently there is no obvious reason why my laptop shouldnt accept the programm.
(rhino5 does work, so why would it be different for rhino6?)

@florimfteja Welcome.
Check hardware specs Here: If specs are ok, Try a Repair >>> In the Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features, you can use the Change options (right-click Rhino 6) and then click the Repair button.

The OpenGL display requirements for V6 are much higher than V5.

What display adapter(s) are you running and what are the dates of their drivers?
You can use the Windows Device Manager to see.

I run a : Wide viewing angle & high density FlexView display 2560x1440
It is a Think Pad carbon x1, with a 2ghz processor, intel quad core i7, 64bit, and running Windows 10 pro, it is the 13inch 2018 edition .

Which doesn’t tell us anything about your display adapter.

  1. Run the Windows Device Manager
  2. Expand the Display adapters section
  3. Right click on the adapter name
  4. Click Properties
  5. Click on the Drivers tab
  6. Take a screenshot
  7. If there is a second display adapter, send a screenshot of it’s Driver tab as well.

I have already tried but this does not work either.

Hello does anything at all happen? Any error message or other message? Do you have a virus detector installed? If so, does it work if that is temporarily disabled?

Hi, I have had similar issues with Rhino 6 not opening/running after i installed the evaluation. I have reinstalled windows updates, reinstalled Rhino 6, run as admin/safe mode, used rhino repair tool, NET. repair tool and nothing has worked.

The program was installed and working for about a week but now I cant open it, even after all the updates.

Your help would be appreciated, thanks!

Hi Liz - Turn off your computer. Then turn it on again and launch Rhino. What happens? Is there any message? Open the Windows Task Manager. Is Rhino listed under Apps? Is McNeelUpdateService listed under Background processes?
-wim

There is no message when rhino is launched. Task manager says McNeelUpdateService 5.0 is running, but rhino is not listed under the apps

Any ideas on this one, @brian?
