Rhino 6 free trial will not open

Hello, I’m new to this forum, returning to using Rhino after a long break! I am having no joy trying to run 6 on my Toshiba laptop, it freezes before fully opening. Does anyone here specialise in talking to bewildered noobs?
Any help gratefully recieved,
Jeff

If you’re not getting an error message, then I’d start Rhino V6 in Safe mode.
Use the Windows Cortana Search tool and look for Rhino 6 in Save mode.

Safe mode is NOT a fix.
It is a troubleshooting tool that blocks loading OpenGL graphics and plugins; either of which can cause the symptoms you are describing.

If Rhino starts in Safe mode, run the SystemInfo command and post the results in a reply.

Thanks for the speedy response John! Not sure if this is what you’re suggesting but here goes…

Sorry, no. I guess I wasn’t clear.
“SystemInfo” is a V6 Rhino command and tesll us what Rhino sees.

No worries! how about this…

There it is.
Two MAJOR problems:

  • Your computer is running an Intel 4000 graphics. Terrible choice. Only marginally supported in Rhino V6. It also tells me that is a very old computer.

  • The driver for it is more than 5 years old!

As a temporary fix, try installing this updated driver from March 2020.

If your computer says that driver is not “validated” for you computer, here’s how to get past that hogwash:

Any luck?

Please consider purchasing a new computer that meet’s Rhino V6’s System Requirements.

Cheers

Thanks for your help John!
Jeff
