Revit Constantly Crashing with Rhino.Inside

Hello, I am currently trying out Rhino.Inside with Revit 2024. I have been facing this issue where whenever Grasshopper is opened or when I start the plugin, and I try to switch viewports in Revit or open a new Revit file, an error will occur and my Revit will crash. The images below shows the warnings and errors before Revit crashes.

I have tried troubleshooting but the error still continues to persist. May I know what might be causing the issue and how may I solve it?

Hi Confused_Bagel,

I changed the forum category to Rhino.Inside - Revit, its easily missed if put in the general category of Rhino.Inside

What troubleshooting have you done so far?

Please post your About info

Hi Japhy, thanks for helping me change the category. So far I have tried following these as it seemed closest to the issue that I am facing.

Thank you in advance!

Conflicts with other Revit Add-ins is a good place to start.

a quick check can be done with Shift+Ctrl click on the Start (Green Dot) to bring up the dialog to open a new instance of Revit without other Addins loaded.

Hi, I believe I was experiencing the same issue. Any time I would change viewports via the tabs I would experience a fatal error crash. If I changed viewports via the project browser however, no crash.

Finally, I was able to pinpoint the bug in my case. Once I set tracking mode to disabled in every “add” component (i.e. Add Area Boundary, Add Mass Loft, etc.) from Rhino.Inside, the bug stopped. Even if the component was not in use, simply on the gh canvas, it needed to have its tracking disabled for the bug to not occur.

Thanks for the info, i’ll add this comment to the ongoing issue report.

Hi Cole,

please try our latest daily 1.24.8993.20598 (or above) build that should fix this issue. Thanks.

For me, its switching to another already open view by the view tabs that seems to cause the crash. If i go via the project browser it seems ok…

That should be fixed with this last release this week. Go to options and update to get the latest.

Hi Frederik,

To be clear, this is the error that was happening when switching Revit Views?

If so please get the very latest.

Hi Japhy,

I’ve been dealing with the same issue for a while (over one year, probably). I’m currently using Revit 2023, Rhino.Inside.Revit (RiR) version 1.24.9, and Rhino 7. Do I need Revit 2024 to have it fixed?

Crash while switching Revit views (while running RiR)???

If you have the latest Revit, Rhino & Rhino.Inside.Revit you should be OK.

If its something repeatable please post steps to repeat.

Yeah, exactly, especially switching views between projects. I have tried disable all the plug-ins, but it still showed up. Previously I thought it was pyRevit, but it seems not.

I haven’t been working too much in Rhino 7.37, i’ll see if i can repeat. The issue was fixed in 1.22++ if i recall, so you are good in that regard. I’m running Revit 2023.1.5

Sorry I was wrong. I was actually using version 1.23, but I downloaded 1.24 two days ago, and so far, the glitch hasn’t reappeared.
