Rendering-transparency map stays black

Hello

i use plants coming with landsdesign.

The realistic mode looks awesome in viewmode “renderd” but the transparancy map gets black when rendered.

Leo_Lands-Plantsfoliage don’t render.3dm (11.3 MB)

with the legacy renderer this problem don’t exist.

what am i doing wrong?
Is there a workaround?

rhino8.13, lands6.1.2, visualarq 3.1

Thanks a lot!

Custom material transparency was dead for the moment (current Rhino version). See here:

Rhino 8.15 apparently has this issue fixed.

I am testing in 8.15 and the problem still exists, sort of. If I hit the Alpha Trasparency button on each material, then try show correctly in rendering:

These looks like Lands Design inserted blocks? I wonder if they have updated materials for the newer renderer?

Foliage Materials created by Lands have both a color texture with an alpha channel and a transparency texture. Renderers should use the transparency map to cut the leaves, as the outer part is not solid. But just in case any renderer rely only on the color map, Lands replicates the transparency on the alpha channel of the color map. I think all the information is there, and indeed version 8.12 worked fine.

Right, that is an issue for me.

I have made a fix in what will be 8.15 service release candidate in 8-9 days.

RH-84976 is fixed in Rhino 8 Service Release 15 Release Candidate

Great! I tested it and works fine with Lands Design plants.

For any user having this issue, here is the direct link to download the Rhino 8.15 SRC:
