Hello,
I keep dragging my png onto my surface to assign it as a material and texture. It show in the viewports only sometimes (see screenshot where object is just black without texture or material). It does not show up in the render at all. What is the problem? Using Rhino 7. See png of material/texture as well.

Hi Taryn,
What is your systeminfo? (run SystemInfo in the Rhino command line)
Not seeing any issue here on a quick test.

Now this keeps happening… entire object doesn’t really show up (except when I drag a selection box over it; see it in yellow) and render shows nothing whatsoever

hmm this is low (OpenGL 2.1)
Can you check this location and take a screenshot?
Can you ensure your Graphics/Power settings are set to High Performance and on your Nvidia card?
Hybrid graphics laptops are more and more common if you buy a consumer grade machine. (I recommend buying a mobile workstation for professional modeling but these hybrid machines are quite prevalent in the consumer market, especially for students.)
They tend to generate a TON of tech support here because of the way they are set up from the factory.
Hybrid systems are built with 2 graphics processors. A low power graphics chip (typically Intel HD or UHD) and a high power graphics card. However…
Okay, yes it was at 4x but only 2.2 for “level”. changed and closed/reopening now…
Now how do I get ground 24 material or ground 24.png (same image essentially just different opacities) to actually adhere to my image as a material? not only that, but show up in a render?
Is this a print color issue? There is no option for print color to be set to custom png for this mesh…

Is it possible to post your file? if its large export selected to a new file or add the Material to simplified geometry to share. Thanks.
Dragging and dropping works for me, no additional settings req’d (granted it needs UV Mapping to get it precise)
rhinoissue.3dm (1.1 MB) even though this material is fine for my purposes, dragging and dropping and png will have no effect on t he material at all. It stays the same and refuses to accept new materials/textures.

Thanks for posting.
It appears that material is reflecting or lacks saturation of the image.
Try using the Picture material type with Self Illumination checked
That doesn’t help:
Why will my render not show my material?
