I’m not seeing anything weird in that picture. Are you referring to the z-axis of the CPlane or something on the gumball, or…?

Yes - curves were created the same way, by just drawing control points.
The axes appear as expected in 7, but with the beta, I’m not sure why it seems to be aligned only to the first point (and seems to have its axes rotated) even when the object itself is selected.

From that description, in Rhino 8, you have the gumball settings set to “Object”, whereas it’s set to “CPlane” in your Rhino 7.
