I got this question DM’ed and I wanted to share the answer here on the Forum because it may be something that you are want to try.
This is a Rhino 8 Windows user.
In Rhino, on the lower left part of the workspace there are views for Front, Top, Perspective and Right.
Is there a way to also add back and Left? I am working on a 4 sided design and for this project, it would be helpful.
This is a Rhino 8 Windows user. So the solution is based on the knowledge that the user is running Rhino on the Windows platform.
Creating Addition Docked Viewports
The steps to create a new docked model viewport are:
- From the Viewport menu or View → Viewport Layout → Split Horizonal or Split Vertical.
- Next set the new viewport menu, select Set View and pick the standard view to set to your new viewport.
- Repeat this for as many additional viewport that you want.
- Then double-clock the viewport title, to maximize the viewport to the modeling area.
- Pick the viewport tabs located at the bottom of the Rhino screen to efficiently move between viewport.
- Then use the default ZEA alias to Zoo Extents All to zoom extents all viewports.
- Double-click the viewport title to restore the multi-viewport configuration.
This is covered in the Level 1 Training Guide here
Scroll to Exercise 4-3 Practice with Display Options.
Importing Viewports
Save this file and it can become a “template” to insert the configuration of viewports in other files.
- Open the file that needs viewports.
- Start command ReadViewportsFromFile
- Navigate to the file with the viewport configuration you are wanting to import.
- Pick Ok.

Mac Wish
This functionality is current only available on Rhino for Windows, and not available Rhino for Mac.
This issue has been logged and we will report back here when we see a fix.
