Problem with chamfer

Good morning friends,

There seems to be a problem with chamfer. If you draw a simple rectangle and set chamfer to 1/8" x 1/8" you don’t seem to be a 45 degree angle.

I wonder if anyone else has noticed this?

Thank you.

Cosmas

Hi Cosmas,

It’s working here as expected, can you post an example curve both without and with the chamfer?

Are you sure you set both sides to be 1/8 ?

Hi Willem,

That’s interesting. I just tried it again.

I drew a 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" square. I started at the bottom right hand corner and ran Chamfer with .125" x .125". The first one was fine. The second one was fine. The third one (upper left) was off. The fourth one was fine.

I repeated and the third and fourth were off.

I’ve attached the file and a screen grab for you to see.

Thanks.

Hi Cosmas and Willem,

the error may be a bug or is related to the tolerance in the file. I´ve exploded the left camfered rectangle and tried to make a fillet with radius 0 in order to extend the two lines forming the upper left corner. This extension failed too for the horizontal line.

Then i´ve reduced the absolute tolerance from 0.1 to 0.01 and the fillet with radius 0 worked. As Willem, i can add the 1/8 camfer even with a tolerance of 0.1.
