When I’m in layout, the bane of my existance is having my entire drawing laid out, dimensioned and noted and then realising I have to add something and shift everything around. In vectorworks they have a function where you click on the viewport (detail view) and you essentially enter a group or seperate layout layer where you can then add notes etc and then you can click out of it and all of those notes are grouped, making it easy to move it about the page as needed.
As I’m working now, I have to try and painstakingly select all notes and dims related to the corresponding detail view and then drag it to its new place on the layout page, inevitably I leave things behind, and the history always breaks on the dimensions.
Obviously I could group them together, but the history breaks and there’s no way to easily edit that without having to ungroup and then regroup it all every time, and with block instances the history breaks as well.
Let me know if something like this already exists, but if not it’s definitely on my Rhino 9 wishlist! From what I’ve read there’s a lot of improvements on the drafting side of things for rhino 9 which I’m super excited about. My wish is to switch to rhino completely for both 2D and 3D, but unfortunately as it stands, it is nowhere near as convenient for me compared to VW for 2D and layout.
Annotation text is in no way related to the position of a detail, so those need to be handled manually. Dimensions, though, should automatically follow along when a detail is moved without having to select the dimension. If you have a reproducible workflow where this is not the case, please provide details so that this bug can be fixed.

Thanks very much for the reply Wim! Yes, Dims are mostly attached to the detail view when I move it which is great, however for a dim where I am measuring something at full size and have put a split line through and ‘faked’ (e.g. already broken the history intentionally), these do not move with the detail view unless selected manually- whats more, I cannot then highlight all the dims (both ‘broken’ and not), as when selecting all it will break the history for those attached.
Would be great to have the function where you can enter into a detail view annotation group, as described above, similar to vectorworks to be able to easily move it about the page as one. This would improve the layout function exponentially - even as today I had to move a detail view with all my section lines on top + dims + annotations, trying to select every object, deselecting those that are not needed, realising I’ve missed some, going back and trying again, selecting a dim accidentally then breaking its history…. Perhaps a minor issue when considering the overall power of this program for 3D modelling, but if you guys are improving the drafting side and layout functions, this is 100% on my request list.
