Hi,
I’m very new to grasshopper. Down below is my project to 3d print a stool. As I understand, to print a 3d product, it shall be solid and has zero naked edges. I generate the form using Intralattice plugin. However, the end result has many naked edges. I tried many welding options and left with 3-4 naked edges. How do i get rid of them. I have meshedittools2, intralattice and weaverbirds plugin. Can any of these help and how?
naked edges.3dm (6.1 MB)
Intra lattice does this occasionally (or frequently depending on topology). I general and IF conditions are right ExoW yields far better results (but is very tricky and stops working by reporting real (or imaginary) engulfing issues related with short edges.
Ideally the best way for Mesh post processing/repair/etc is to use some top subdivision app the likes of Modo (the best) and/or Mesh Lab (open source, bugs). Some “pro” 3D printers (~3-6K) come with quite capable “repair” apps as well. All pro 3D printers do that as well (but they cost a fortune: way above 100K).
Anyway if you do business with meshes try the free option:
