New objects only visible in one layout/viewport

Hi @moon47usaco,
Is there a way to set them as hidden from all previous layouts/detail views except the new layout/detail view?

  1. Maybe the easiest way to do this is to create the dimension on the layout.
If you use osnaps, then the dimtext will reflect model distances.

  2. Another option you have is to make a layer, let’s call it Dimlayout-2.
You can turn it off in the Details in the current Layout or All layouts.
This option on the menu that you will see when you right-click of the Detail On button (light bulb) in the Layer panel when the details is active.

Then pick "Layer On in this details only → All Layouts.

Now moving forward in the model you can also set New Detail On to “Off”.
Now when you make a new detail, this layer will always be Off in a new detail on any layout , but can always be turned on if required.

Here are my favorite posts that are packed with details about how to use layout and layer in Rhino 8:
