New computer, can't launch V8

When I launch Rhino V8 (fresh install) I see this. I click “Login….” and then nothing happens. Rhino.exe also drops off the task manager. Any hints?

We’ve seen this a few times since the last Windows update. Repairing the C++ redistributables resolves it.

The repair option can done with the following:

1. Go to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
2. Right-click Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and choose Repair.

• Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x86) ← do this first
• Microsoft Visual C++ 2015-2022 Redistributable (x64) ← you will now be prompted to reboot.

Let us know if this it doesn’t resolve your issue.

Another one that can do this is video driver and setup, but i still suspect the runtime.

We should also check if you can run in a different Microsoft runtime. Go to the rhino shortcut and add this flag.. /netfx Then run the shortcut

GPU settings are good.

/netfx gives me the sad rhino (I submitted the report)

Lets repair your runtimes again.. the 8.0.x might be a different version

Updated per above, double checked Nvidia, but still crashing (submitted a few of the crash dumps)
