Rhino 8 Stability Issues

Long time Rhino user and always amazed by how stable it has always been.

V8 keeps crashing, I’ve had floating windows (layers) freezing, what’s going on ? Is it just me ?

Seems very strange as we are now at SR8…

My experience is very similar to yours. I’m currently running a Rhino 8 trial and have found it to be less stable than previous versions. In the 60 or so days I’ve been running it, I think I’ve had three crashes. Previous versions probably crashed once a year (if that).

Putting it in context, Rhino is still one of the most stable apps I use and I’m almost certain to upgrade to v8.

Hi -
I’m not seeing any crash reports in our system from either of you. When Rhino crashes and the crash reporter pops up, please always send that in so that we get some of the information that we need to be able to fix things.

Apart from that, if you have a workflow that consistently causes a crash, please provide the steps we need to take to reproduce that on our systems.

Also, always copy-paste the output of the Rhino SystemInfo command when reporting bugs.

Two out of the three crashes didn’t generate a report, the other dumped a file on my desktop but I didn’t get the window with the link to email it to McNeel. I think that’s what used to happen in v7, unless I’m misremembering (it’s a long while since I had a crash in v7).

All crashes happened while I was experimenting with render, materials and switching views (a floating window was involved in one I think). My PC is a bit old and my GPU is a lowly Quardro K1200, I assumed I was over stressing it.
